A Cornish coastal adventure!

(Even if it wasn't the adventure we were hoping for!)
This blog has nothing at all to do with Pixie Bee creations, but I just thought it might be quite cathartic for me to get my thoughts down, and send them out to anyone who happens to stumble across it.
I am currently relaxing after getting my youngest daughter to bed on the last day of our holiday. This holiday was supposed to be a house hunting expedition in Bude (Cornwall) but sadly the whole house move situation has had to come to an abrupt end due to a catalogue of issues and problems with our Estate agents at home. This has led to us feeling a little deflated, but, we did our very best to keep our smiles strong and make some magical memories while we were here.

All week I have sat in this little nook of a cottage, overlooking the beautiful hills, a small natural lake and in the distance, if you can see from the picture above the Coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. The weather has been particularly 'interesting' this week. One minute its so bright and sunny I can't see without squinting, and within a few minutes, there are winds howling and rain so fierce it feels like we are in a cold shower. Yet we haven't let the weather OR the sad news of the end of our journey of moving here, to stop us having fun.

Today we spent a few hours in Port Isaac. For those of you who have watched Doc Martin, you will know it as Port Wenn. Or others of you may have watched the movie Fishermans friends about the Fishermen turned Sea Shanty band. We love it here, and love seeing so many visitors getting excited by all of the areas that have been filmed over the years. Today I met a lovely couple who had travelled all the way from Ohio to visit.
Another amazing trip we have taken this week is to Bodmin Jail. We paid a little extra for the 'Pulling my leg' tour with an amazing guide called Gemma. It was fascinating to hear all about the prisoners from the past and the gruesome details of executions and hangings in Bodmin. I would highly recommend this if any of you are spending any time here. To top it off, we had a little walk around the hotel.
I came to the jail when I was 19, and am so happy to see how well it has all been renovated and is now being used. I would love to stay in the hotel just for a bit of fun.

We have had loads of walks and enjoyed just being in nature. To top it off, we have enjoyed many an ice cream, pasty and coffee (or herbal tea in my case!) by the water. The dogs have been spoiled with long walks and lots of cuddles while we are feeling cold. We even celebrated my youngest daughters birthday while here, which she has said felt very special as it was a day of things that she wouldn't have had if we had been home in Bedfordshire. I did manage to crochet her a little card before we got here so there is a little bit of Pixie Bee involvement here!
(Obviously I also packed my hooks and yarn and have been very busy creating wonderful gifts for special people which I sadly can't show just yet, otherwise it would spoil their surprise!
