Why Pixie Bee Is About More Than Crochet: Creativity, Wellness Community

When I first started Pixie Bee Creations, it began with something simple — a love for creativity and a ball of yarn.

Crochet quickly became more than just making beautiful things. It became a way to slow down, to switch off from the relentless pace of modern life, and to reconnect with something quiet and meaningful. There is something almost magical about the way a simple, repetitive stitch can still a busy mind.

But over time, I began to realise that what I truly loved wasn’t just the craft itself. It was what happened to people when they picked it up.

The way shoulders dropped. The way conversation flowed more easily. The way someone who walked in feeling overwhelmed would leave smiling, holding something they had made with their own hands — often for the very first time.

That is where my journey into wellness really began.

Wellness Isn’t One Size Fits All

For a long time, I think many of us have been sold a very narrow version of what wellness looks like. Green smoothies. Early morning runs. A perfectly curated self-care routine.

But wellness is so much more personal than that

For some people, wellness is movement. For others, it is rest. Sometimes it is therapy, or time in nature, or simply a quiet cup of tea without a screen in sight. And for a great many people — more than we perhaps give credit for — wellness is creativity.

Crochet, in particular, has a quietly powerful effect on wellbeing. The repetitive movements can feel deeply grounding. The gentle focus it requires helps to quiet the noise of a busy mind. And the act of creating something with your own hands — something that did not exist before you made it — brings a real and lasting sense of achievement.

I have seen this firsthand through my workshops. People arrive sometimes nervous, sometimes distracted, sometimes carrying the weight of a difficult week. And within an hour, something shifts. They chat, they laugh, they encourage one another, they surprise themselves with what they can do. They leave feeling lighter.

That is not just craft. That is community. That is connection. And that, I believe, is wellness in one of its most accessible and joyful forms.

Why I Brought Tropic Skincare Into the Pixie Bee World

As Pixie Bee grew, I found myself thinking more deeply about what I wanted this business to stand for — and how I could offer more of what truly matters to the people I work with.

That is one of the reasons I chose to bring Tropic Skincare into my journey.

Tropic is a range of naturally derived, cruelty-free skincare products that are as kind to the planet as they are to your skin. But for me, choosing to work with Tropic was never purely about the products themselves. It was about what they represent.

Skincare, at its best, is an act of self-care. Taking a few quiet minutes to cleanse, nourish, and care for your skin can become a small but meaningful ritual — a pause in the middle of a busy day, a moment that belongs entirely to you, and a gentle reminder that looking after yourself is not an indulgence. It is necessary.

Crochet and skincare might seem like an unlikely pairing. But when I sit with it, the connection feels completely natural.

Both invite you to slow down.

Both can become mindful, intentional rituals.

Both are acts of doing something just for yourself.

Both build confidence and contribute to your wellbeing in their own quiet way.

Pixie Bee is becoming a space where creativity and self-care can exist together — where you might pick up a crochet hook for the first time and also discover a skincare routine that makes you feel good in your own skin. Where the common thread running through everything is the belief that you deserve to take up space in your own life.

The Power of Local Collaboration

Alongside all of this, I have also been focusing on something that feels deeply important to me — building genuine collaborations with other wellness businesses in my local area.

Because here is the truth: no single business can be everything to everyone. And nor should it try to be.

Some people will find their way to wellness through creativity. Others through movement, nutrition, therapy, holistic treatments, or simply being welcomed into a community that makes them feel less alone. Every path is valid. Every person is different.

When local wellness businesses choose to work together rather than compete, something really powerful happens. We create stronger, more connected support networks. We introduce people to services and experiences they might never have found on their own. We share knowledge, build trust, and together we become far more useful to our communities than any of us could be alone.

I genuinely believe that collaboration is one of the most important things we can do — not just as businesses, but as people who care about the wellbeing of those around us.

What Pixie Bee Is Becoming

Pixie Bee will always have creativity at its heart. That will never change.

But this next chapter is about building something bigger — a space that supports wellbeing through creativity, self-care, connection, and community. A place where a crochet workshop, a nourishing skincare ritual, a conversation with a local wellness business, or even just a chance encounter that makes someone feel seen — all of it has a place.

Whether you are here for the crochet, the skincare, the workshops, or simply because something about this resonates with you — you are welcome here.

And I cannot wait to see what we build together.

If you’d like to explore my crochet workshops, browse Tropic skincare, or find out more about upcoming collaborations, you can find everything over on the Pixie Bee Creations website. And if you know a local wellness business that shares these values — I’d love to hear from you.
